Idlers for excavators and bulldozers

The RTD Mining idlers are offered for machines ranging from 40 to 300 tonnes. When producing idlers, the latest automated design and fabrication processes are used. The idler is inductively hardened and made of selected high-quality alloy steel to deliver the best performance under extreme working conditions. They are assembled with seals that have been designed in-house in accordance with the latest quality standards. Issues such as burst and leak tests and an automatic system to fill with oil have been taken into consideration.

The idlers are produced based on OEM standards. RTD Mining, for example, uses high-quality steel because this alloy tempers well and is tough. Experience has shown that it is key to perform specific treatments on the tread; a special casting method is used to prevent gas from occurring in the material. Moreover, a special heat treatment on the surface can ensure a better deep tempering and therefore the lifespan is extended. We use higher cast temperatures and spend extra time on cooling down the cast material in a controlled manner. This prevents cracks from occurring during the process.
